We have 2 volunteers in our organisation who have a great fear of heights but have decided to do a sponsored Sky Dive for a great cause. Macmillan Cancer Support.

Philippa is the Area Manager at Enabling Care for You and has lost several family members to different varieties of cancer over the years. In 2018 a close friend Sue was diagnosed with secondary cancer. This came as a terrible shock; the cancer was terminal and Sue was given three months to live. Whilst nursing Sue along with Lesley (Registered Manager) it was devastating to watch someone so precious to your life and that you loved so much suffer and deteriorate in front of you and there was nothing anyone could do. Two months later Lesley’s only other sibling Janet was diagnosed with terminal cancer but was cared for via a Hospice and Nursing Home. Sue had so much to live for, so much to give her children and grandchildren. You never know how heart-breaking this disease is until it takes away someone you love.

This loss also shaped our company’s future as many of our clients we support are receiving palliative care in their own homes. Our aim is to make life comfortable for the individuals and their family in this difficult time by providing personal care, support, and companionship.

Andy is our Compliance Manager at Enabling Care for You and sadly lost his beloved Nan and Grandad to cancer two years apart from each other. His Nan was always the matriarch of the family and kept her diagnosis secret from the whole family whilst looking after her husband who had lung cancer. After he passed her battles became apparent but refused any support determined to proceed through life as if nothing was wrong. It wasn’t until the end that she accepted and received the support needed and she peacefully passed away with all her family around her.

We aren’t only taking part of the sky dive for Macmillan Cancer Support but also for memory of our beloved friends and family and for everyone else.

Seeing the strength that individuals with cancer have; and seeing how they overcome their fears with such strength has given us the inspiration to fight our own fears not only for the individuals and their families suffering but for the heroes at Macmillan Cancer Support and for the memories of strong individuals who have recovered or passed from this condition.

1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with cancer and Macmillan Cancer Support try their absolute hardest to help as many people as they can but currently can only support 1 in 4 individuals. Macmillan needs as much support as possible but without your support they can’t support more who needs them.

Give today for your tomorrow and any amount can make a monumental difference to lives. Help us raise them up, be the light, be the hope. Helping people help people and be part of something bigger, donating for the future. Giving is not just a donation it is about making a difference and from the bottom of our hearts we thank you for any support you can provide.
