Welcome to Our Autumn Newsletter

Oct 28, 2025

As the leaves turn golden and the evenings grow cosier, we wanted to share some exciting updates, helpful tips, and heartwarming stories from all of us here at Enabling Care For You Ltd.

Autumn is a season for reflection, comfort, and connection. It’s also a reminder
that even the smallest gestures – like a warm cup of tea, a friendly chat, or a helping hand – can make a world of difference.

We’re here to support you every step of the way, whether it’s preparing your home for winter, bringing joy with a furry visitor, or celebrating the moments that make life special.

Seasonal Updates & Reminders

  • Flu & COVID Vaccines: Book yours if you haven’t yet. They’re especially important during colder months. If you need help with transport or booking, just ask us.
  • Home Safety: Shorter days mean more time indoors. Make sure smoke alarms, heating systems, and lighting are working properly.
  • Be Winter-Ready: Keep blankets nearby, stock up on essential medications, and have emergency contact numbers ready.

Meet the Team – Staff News

Many of you already know Amy Hougham, who has been a familiar face in our Maidstone team for over three years. Thanks to her dedication, hard work, and passion for care, Amy has been promoted to Team Leader.

In this new role, Amy will be based in the office, carrying out meet-and-greets, spot checks, and reviews, so you’ll likely see or speak to her soon. With over ten years’ experience in care, a Level 3 qualification, and will be working
towards Level 5, Amy is a real asset to our team.

Winter Ready

Winter can bring challenges, but a little preparation makes all the difference.

Around the Home

  • Check heating: Get boilers and radiators serviced before the cold sets in.
  • Be prepared: Keep a torch and spare batteries for power cuts.
  • Stay warm: Close curtains early and use draught excluders to trap heat.

Personal Wellbeing

  • Eat well: Warm, nourishing meals support your immune system.
  • Stay hydrated: Even in winter, aim for 6–8 glasses of water daily.
  • Layer up: Several thin layers keep you warmer than one thick one.

Health & Safety

  • Know who to call: Keep important contact numbers visible.
  • Get vaccinated: Flu and COVID boosters offer vital protection.
  • Avoid ice: Postpone non-essential trips if paths are icy.

Fireworks Season – Supporting People & Pets

Fireworks can be beautiful, but they can be stressful for some people and pets.

For Individuals
  • Prepare them in advance.
  • Close curtains and create a calming space.
  • Use TV or music as a distraction.
For Pets
  • Keep them indoors.
  • Create a safe, cosy hiding spot.
  • Use calming radio stations like Classic FM or Smooth Radio.

Fancy a Furry Cuddle?

If you’re a dog lover but don’t currently have a pet, we have a treat for you!

We’re arranging dog visits – from tiny lap dogs to big gentle giants – to bring joy, comfort, and companionship. Just tell your carer and we’ll do our best to arrange a visit.

Annual Cat Food Collection – Deadline 15 December

We’re proud to continue our tradition of supporting local animal charities.

  • Donate cat food: tins, pouches, or dry food — all welcome.
  • Financial donations: We’ll purchase supplies on your behalf.

Deadline: 15 December. All donations go directly to local cat charities, helping vulnerable cats this winter.

Star of the Month – We Value Your Feedback

We love celebrating the hard work and dedication of our team. If you’d like to nominate a carer for Star of the Month, contact the office.

We’ll send you a feedback form and an SAE to make it easy. Your input means the world and helps us celebrate those who go the extra mile.
