Looking ahead with steadiness, warmth and hope

A Warm Welcome to February

February often arrives quietly. The rush of winter celebrations has passed, routines begin to settle again, and there is a subtle sense of change in the air. The days are gradually becoming longer, the mornings a little brighter, and there are small reminders that spring will return in its own time.

For many people, this part of the year can feel mixed. You may feel tired after the winter months, reflective about the year ahead, or simply relieved to be moving forward one day at a time. However you are feeling, please know there is no expectation to rush, improve, or feel a certain way. You are supported just as you are.

A Season of Continuity and Comfort

Although the seasons change, our focus remains the same: providing care that is reliable, respectful, and centred around what matters most to you.

As we continue through 2026, our priorities remain:

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing alongside physical care
  • Comfort-focused and dignified care for those who are palliative.
  • Ongoing support for families and loved ones.
  • Regular reviews to ensure care continues to meet your needs.

If something no longer feels right, or if your needs change, please tell us. Care should grow and adapt with you, not the other way around.

A Special Note for Palliative Clients and Families

For clients who are palliative, and for families supporting a loved one, this time of year can feel especially tender. After the intensity of winter, emotions such as exhaustion, sadness, uncertainty, and quiet reflection often come to the surface.

Please remember:

  • There is no “right” way to feel
  • You do not need to stay strong for others
  • Asking for extra help or reassurance is never a burden

Our team is here to support comfort, dignity, and peace not just for our clients, but also for the people who care about them. If you need extra time, changes to care, or simply someone to talk to, please let us know. We will always make space.

Winter Weather Update

As we continue through February, the UK is experiencing cold conditions with frosty mornings, ice, and the possibility of snow.

These winter conditions can sometimes make travel more difficult and may cause unavoidable disruption to care calls, particularly early in the morning or in harder-to-reach areas.

Please be assured that your care remains our priority and we will always do everything possible to minimise any disruption and continue visits safely. Our team closely monitors the weather, adjusts rotas where needed, and will keep in touch if delays are expected.

You can help by keeping your phone nearby in case we need to update you. Thank you for your patience and understanding during severe weather it helps keep both our clients and staff safe.

Signs of Spring Small Things to Look Forward To

Spring rarely arrives all at once. Instead, it appears quietly, often in the smallest moments.

Over the coming weeks you may notice:

  • More birdsong in the mornings
  • Lighter evenings
  • New shoots and fresh growth aoutdoors
  • gentle return of routine and balance

Noticing these small changes can bring comfort and reassurance. You do not need big plans sometimes it is the simple, everyday moments that bring the most peace.

Spring Wellbeing  A Gentle Check-In

Although spring is approaching, winter conditions can still linger. A few gentle reminders to help you stay well:

  • Continue dressing in layers, as temperatures can change quickly
  • Try to eat warm, nourishing meals, even if your appetite is small
  • Drink fluids regularly – warm drinks still count
  • Let us know if you feel more tired, dizzy, breathless, or unwell
  • Please tell us if you’re heating or hot water is not working

We would always rather check things early than have you struggle quietly.

An Important Update About Changes Within the Company

We believe in being open and honest with you.

Recently, one of the vital systems we relied on for rotas and financial processing went into insolvency without warning. This was an unexpected situation and gave us very little time to prepare or communicate in advance. Had we been able to, we would have informed you sooner.

To ensure care visits, rotas, and financial processes could continue safely, we moved quickly to implement a new system.

What this may have meant for you:

  • Some clients may have noticed small timing issues with care visits while the system was being introduced
  • Private clients may notice a change in the format of invoices, which should now be clearer and easier to understand

While this transition was challenging, the new system offers improved transparency, reliability, and oversight. We are confident the long-term benefits will outweigh any short-term disruption.

Recruitment and Looking Ahead

Alongside these system changes, recruitment is actively under way to strengthen our team. This will help improve cover, continuity, and communication.

We hope to have a new Care Coordinator in place by the time you receive our next newsletter, which will further support smooth scheduling and responsiveness.

There are also other positive changes taking shape behind the scenes, and we look forward to sharing more with you soon.

Looking ahead to warmer months, we are also planning a **Summer Open Day**. This will be an opportunity for clients, families, and staff to meet, enjoy some fresh air, and spend time together. More details will follow we hope you’ll be able to join us.

Staying Connected; You Are Never Alone

Feelings of loneliness can linger after winter, and many people experience this at some point. If you are missing company, conversation, or reassurance, please let us know.

Support is always available through:

  • Your care team
  • The office
  • Trusted organisations such as Age UK, Marie Curie, Cruse, Mind and Samaritans

Client Involvement – Looking Ahead

We continue to value the creativity, experiences, and voices of the people we support.

If you enjoy:

  • Art or craft
  • Writing, poetry, or memories
  • Knitting or sewing
  • Photography
  • Storytelling or reminiscence

We would love to include your contributions in future newsletters. There is no pressure – just a warm invitation.

A Reminder About Your Care

Your care visits continue as normal throughout the year

If at any point you feel something needs adjusting – whether that’s more support, less support, or a different approach – please tell us. Care should always fit you and your circumstances.

A Thought for the Season Ahead

As spring slowly approaches, we wish you:

  • Steadiness rather than pressure
  • Comfort rather than expectation
  • Gentle hope for the weeks ahead

May the coming months bring lighter days, calm moments, and reassurance that you are supported, valued, and never alone.

With warmth and care,

Enabling Care For You
