A day in the life Hannah

I have been asked to write a brief account of my day. We work in teams of two on a four-day rolling rota, we especially like this rota pattern as it gives us a good work life balance. We have worked in care for many years with different care agency’s but like the ethics and the feeling of belonging that you get from working with Enabling Care For You.

Our day can be very routined but on the same time it can be very unpredictable. Our shift starts with morning visits assisting clients with personal care, breakfast, fluids, and medications but our favourite part is having a good chat we enjoy keeping clients comfortable in their homes Return visits include lunch, fluids, repositioning, personal care, and medications application of any prescribed creams along with a natter. Tea calls consist of personal care, tea, fluids and medications personal assistance with toileting and friendly chats and banter. We find that sometime the smallest chat or laughter can make a huge difference to individual lives. The final call of day to settle client for the night all personal care and repositioning This gives Debbie and I great pleasure, that we can maintain the routine that suits our clients. 

Continuity of care is so important clients like that they have the routine of having the same carer over a four-day period. This also ensures that by having the same 4 staff members that if there was anything that had changed in the client’s wellbeing or abilities this can be picked up quickly and reacted on. We love having the ability to make a difference in our clients lives and put a smile on their face sometimes in the darkest times of their lives.
